Gumbo: A Louisiana Mix

I can't tell you how thankful I am to have been born in South Louisiana. More culture, beautiful woman, and delicious food than you can shake a stick at. Here's a mix I threw together.

1. Louisiana Saturday Night - Mel McDaniel
2. Cajun Moon - JJ Cale
3. Lover Of The Bayou - Mudcrutch
4. Louisiana Women - Waylon Jennings
5. Leaving Louisiana In The Broad Daylight - Emmylou Harris
6. Louisiana Rain - Tom Petty
7. Jambalaya (On The Bayou) - Leon Russell
8. Cajun Born - Emmylou Harris
9. Cotton Fields - Creedence Clearwater Revival
10. Walking To New Orleans - Fats Domino
11. Evangeline - The Band w/ Emmylou Harris
12. I Walk on Guilded Splinters - Duane Allman & Johnny Jenkins
13. Louisiana 1927 - The Neville Brothers

Grayson Capps - If You Knew My Mind

A concept album centered around "Off Magazine Street" a novel written by his father that was turned into the film "A Love Song For Bobby Long". Gritty New Orleans music.

Emmylou Harris - Elite Hotel

Besides having the hottest album cover ever this is some damn good country. Emmylou covers The Beatles, Hank, Patsy, and Gram Parsons to name a few. And as if I needed another reason to love her she goes and sings Cajun Born.
I'm a Cajun born
I'm a Cajun bred
When I Die
I'm a Cajun dead
If I die in Alaska
If I die in Ohio
This soul will find its way back to the bayou

Dammit girl!

Roky Erickson and the Aliens - The Evil One (Sympathy For The Record Industry)

Roky was the founding member of the 60's psychedelic band 13th Floor Elevators. He is a diagnosed paranoid scizophrenic who received forced electro shock treatment in a Texas hospital for the criminally insane. He released this album after being let out prison. Just simple psycho demon rock.

Pink Floyd - Meddle

While not my favorite Pink Floyd album, Meddle has their best song, which just might be the greatest psychedelic songs of all time, Echoes. This song should be listened to loud and with your undivided attention. It will change your life. If you want your mind blown again sync it up with the end of 2001: A Space Odyssey (http://www.pinkfloydonline.com/echoes2001_setup.html)
