Vic Chesnutt 1964 ~ 2009

I'm a machinist at the Springfield armory
Just slightly ahead of my time
But I don't make much money
So I sell eggs and chickens on the side

I'm good at what I do
And I take great pride
But I don't make much money
So I sell eggs and chickens on the side

And my wife does love me
But she can't realize
Why I won't go back down south
And leave the armory behind

But I love my job
I'll shave metal until I die
And until I do, I'll take on
Any extra thing it takes to provide

And I know it'll kill me
Breathing all those fumes
But I'd sooner sniff solution
Than a baker's dozen hothouse blooms

And my wife does love me
But she can't realize
Why I won't go back down south
And leave the armory behind

But I feel it is important
What I do upon my lathe
I pledge to do the detail work
Until my expiration day
Until my expiration day
Until my expiration day
Until my expiration day

Rest In Peace Vic.

The Grateful Dead - Steppin Out With The Grateful Dead

A live compilation of the English leg of The Dead's 1972 Europe tour. Four discs of prime Grateful Dead.

Kaya Project - Walking Through

Downtempo electronica with organic instruments. I love it.

Tom Petty - Live Anthology

A brand new 4 disc box set of live material spanning Tom Petty's career. All his standards and some covers too.

Van Morrison - Tupelo Honey

Remastered with two bonus tracks.

Willis Alan Ramsey

Released in 1972 this out of print album received critical praise and put Willis on the map. For unknown reasons he never put out any more music. Fans of Panic will recognize "Geraldine The Honeybee" and "Wishbone". Great songwriting, and feel good music.

The Beta Band - The Three E.P.'s

Head bobbin psychedelic/folk/electronic Irish music. I still remember where I was when I heard this album for the first time. If you don't love the first song, I'm not sure we can ever be friends.

Ryan Adams - This One's For The Rose

This is a "best of" collection taken from Ryan's many unreleased studio session albums. It's as good as any of his released stuff in my opinion. The song "Walls" is my favorite song of his right now. Thanks to the "This Mornin'" blog for putting this together.

Robert Palmer - Sneakin Sally Through The Alley

Robert Palmer with The Meters and Lowell George backing him up. Pretty funky for a white boy.

The Everybodyfields - Half-Way There: Electricity And The South

Upbeat songs, haunting songs, and songs about God making moonshine. What else could you want?

Whiskeytown - Strangers Almanac (Deluxe Edition)

The album that put Ryan Adams on the map. Hard to believe he was 22 years old when this came out.

Tom Petty - Wildflowers

Ever since this album came out it has gotten regular play on my stereo. Phish and Panic aside it's my favorite album of the 90's. A 16th track, "Girl on LSD" was originally going to be on the album but Warner Bros. insisted it be taken off due to the blatant drug references. I tracked it down and put it on this one. The world needs more albums like this.

Steve Earle

Steve is the perfect mix of country and rock. His upbeat songs put a smile on my face from ear to ear, while his serious songs cut me like a razor blade. I couldn't decide on just one of his albums so I put my two favorite. Enjoy
